Midwest Technical Institute is a year-round school providing vocational training in mechanical trades and allied health career fields where job growth is expected.

MTI was founded in 1995 in Lincoln, Illinois. Since opening its doors, MTI has achieved many milestones, including receiving national accreditation for its course offerings, and expanding our programs and courses beyond the original welding program.

MTI has always taken great pride in touching the lives of students by giving them the hands-on workforce training they need to be successful.

Our mission is to offer workforce training that will provide graduates with the skills necessary to gain entry-level employment in their chosen field.

Program Duration

At MTI, we understand the importance of completing training programs and courses in a timely manner. We offer a variety of accelerated programs in the allied health and mechanical trades fields, where you’ll have the opportunity to complete most programs and courses in less than one year.

    • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
    • Gas Tungsten Arc Gas Welding (GTAW/TIG)
    • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG)
    • Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)

    The welding instructors at MTI bring real-world experience to the weld shop, using hands-on instruction and one-on-one interaction to provide students skills in:

    • Pipe Welding | Manufacturing | Cranes/Rigging | Pipefitting

    Welding classes at MTI also include:

    • Field & Shop Safety
    • Properties & Cutting Techniques of Metal
    • Welding Metallurgy / Vocabulary
    • Basic Blueprint Readings
    • MTI Welding Certification Tests
